So what is Harvest Birregurra all about?

Our Ethos

Our ethos is all about enjoying the simple things in life without leaving big footprints

  • food and wine,

  • art and creativity, and

  • fun and relaxation.

We produce and harvest our own fresh fruit and veges, we generate much of our electricity and we have retrofitted our house to be as energy efficient as possible.

Put simply, we both love good food - and what luck we are in a region with a rich bounty of wonderful local food producers and artisans.

Harvest In-House Dining: Fiona, a skilled and experienced professional cook, has a passion for mediterranean food. All Harvest Birregurra guests have the option of booking a 2-course rustic Mediterannean dinner in advance.Contact us for further information.

Dan Hunter's Brae Restaurant: Dan Hunter's three hat award winning regional restaurant,  formerly George Biron's very popular Sunnybrae Restaurant, is a modern restaurant set on 30 productive acres. Menus are created with location in mind and reflect the restaurant's connection to the land, the pristine natural surrounds and the productive region in which it sits.

Brae is approximately 3 km from Harvest Birregurra.

Bespoke Harvest, Forrest: Bespoke Harvest, headed up by Chef, Simon Stewart, is a beautiful country escape offering a range of shared plates which draw on 80% local Otways produce—fusing ingredients with an array of culinary influences to create an eclectic menu that will tantalise and delight. Middle East in influence, dishes are reminicent of Ottolenghi's style using quality ingredients and herbs to create memorable dishes.

Bespoke Harvest is approximately a 15 minute drive from Harvest Birregurra.

Birregurra Farm Foods is our local provedore - offering a wide range of fine local and regional produce including quality meat from Miles the butcher, a wide range of delicious cheeses and deli produce, artisan breads and pastries, and quality local and regional beer and wine. On weekends, their Meating Place Cafe is open for brunch and lunch. Specialty of the house are fantastic woodfired pizzas which feature top quality local ingredients.

Garden Scuplture: Our productive garden is also a creative one. Wander around and enjoy our growing selection of sculptures created from recycled and reused materials.

Local Art: Each of our guest rooms and guest areas feature a lovely range of pieces from talented local artists. Most of these pieces are available for sale, with funds going toward more local art purchases from the Birregurra Annual Art Show.

At Harvest, we're all about having fun and relaxing. During the day, wind down lounging on the front porch with a glass of wine or a coffee and watch the world go by. We have cards and board games available and loads of books and magazines to read. There are plenty of areas to kick back;

  • take a snooze in the guest lounge by the wood fire

  • enjoy some local snacks on a picnic rug in the garden

  • read your latest book reclining in a deck chair under a shady tree

Our Garden: Our garden in a work in progress and in 2 years has gone from a paddock to a lush ramble of pathways, orchard, vege patch, native hideaway and cottage garden. Wander through the orchard and enjoy a fresh picked apple if it's ready, collect the eggs from the chooks, or take a break among the asparagus and beans. We're new to gardening and make plenty of mistakes, so each time you come, something will be different. If you're interested, we are happy to give you guided tour around the garden and answer any questions you have about what we are doing. We love it and hope you do to.

Birregurra Golf Club: The Birregurra Golf Club is right across the road. It overlooks the Barwon river and features nine holes. The 2nd tee , fondly called 'Niagara", is stunning with sweeping views over the Otway Ranges. For our guests, we have a basic set of golf clubs to borrow. Green fees are just A$10 per day.
